Parcel carrier chooses Stertil Koni

Stertil Koni was the vehicle lift of choice for leading parcel carrier DPD at its newly completed parcel sortation hub in Birmingham. The express parcels delivery company purchased four of Koni's heavy-duty four-post lifts to assist with service and maintenance of its UK fleet.

DPD's newly built multi-sortation hub is purpose-designed for optimum handling and uses the latest technology supported by sophisticated MIS systems. The 27-acre site also includes a 24/7/365 day vehicle maintenance unit for the largest fleet of double-decker trailers in the industry. DPD's fleet includes 3.5 tonne vans and goes right up to 38 tonne tractive units and terminal tractors, so flexibility in its vehicle lifts is essential. Stertil Koni's heavy-duty four-post lifts are ideal for a wide range of heavy vehicles, their open structure and absence of cross-beams giving maximum accessibility to the lifted vehicle.

The heavy four-posters from Stertil-Koni stand apart from their competitors thanks to their innovative and flexible design. Customers can adapt the width of the set-up according to the vehicles to be serviced. There are three different load capacities: 10,000 kg, 17,500 kg and 25,000 kg. A programmable electronic system controls the lifts and an LCD display makes it possible to review information reported by the system. High-spec safety features and low maintenance costs are standard on Stertil Koni equipment and each lift includes Koni's patented synthetic runner wheel system.

"We approached Stertil because, in my opinion, their lifts are the best on the market," says Ian Davey of DPD, "And we haven't been disappointed. The Stertil Koni installation enables us to offer great efficiency in the way we service and maintain our fleet. That, in turn, contributes to the efficiency of the operation as a whole."

DPD is the leading provider of parcel services Europe-wide and has an extensive network delivering more than two million parcels a day. Previously known as Parceline, DPD UK is now part of an international group owned by the French giant La Poste.
