Stuarts Volvo opts for galvanised vehicle lift

West Country Volvo expert Stuart's Truck and Bus has added to its collection of Stertil Koni lifting equipment with the purchase of a new Vega 450 45-tonne lift.

The company, an authorised Volvo truck and bus repairer, undertakes servicing and repair of all types of commercial vehicles from three sites in Plymouth, Exeter and Redruth. An additional lift was needed for its steam-cleaning operations and Stertil Koni was an obvious choice for Stuart's because of previous satisfactory purchases. The company opted for the Vega 450 galvanised lift which has been installed at Stuart's Plymouth workshop.

All Vega lifts are electro-hydraulic parallelogram units, suitable for lifting any type of heavy-duty vehicle with an even load distribution on to the ground. Capacities range from 12 to 52 tonnes and even more on specific request. The 45-tonne model purchased by Stuart's provides the added advantage of being able to lift fully-laden vehicles which, on occasions, can be a real time saver. Lifts are also available in different versions and lengths suitable for vehicles such as articulated buses and coupled tractor/trailer units. "Our previous experience of Stertil had all been positive," comments Troy Stuart, "So it was natural that we should approach them when an additional lift was needed. The quality of their products is second to none and, with the added benefit of excellent customer support, there was no reason for us to look elsewhere."

The Vega lifts are quick to install, require no anchoring to the floor and are therefore easy to relocate. There are no obstructions under the vehicle to interfere with work or cause health and safety hazards. Galvanised versions are an option and these are ideally suited to outdoor steam-cleaning operations. For very particular requirements, to lift vehicles such as tanks, cranes or car transporters, a bespoke lift can be designed.

Stuart's Truck and Bus is a family business which started in 1946 by transporting cattle, moving on to become a recognised Volvo truck dealer and repairer in 1977. Today the company covers the whole of the South West peninsula, from Bridgewater to Lands End.

Stertil Koni is known for its high quality products and its excellent customer service, factory-training its own engineers and keeping parts in stock for 25 years after production. As well as Stertil products, the company also supplies lifts from Omer and JA Becker. Stertil Koni was the first lifting system manufacturer to be awarded ISO 9001 and is part of the Stertil Group.
